The Hachinohe–Towada Trail, a brand new long-distance hiking route developed by the Ministry of the Environment and local governments in Aomori Prefecture, will open on a trial basis starting April 23, 2025 (Wed).
Stretching roughly 120 km from Hachinohe Station to Lake Towada, this trail connects the sea, countryside, mountains, and rivers of Aomori Prefecture.
The route takes hikers through a natural gradient—from coastal fishing towns, through farmlands and orchards, to forested hills and mountain streams, ending at the mystical Lake Towada. It's a journey through landscapes steeped in history, spirituality, and local life.
