An event is currently being held at Risoukyo, where visitors can enjoy viewing 400 Christmas rose and 1,000 Glaucidium palmatum (Shirane-aoi).
Christmas rose get their name from the fact that some wild species bloom around Christmas and their flowers resemble roses. They are hardy, easy-to-grow perennial plants.
Shirane-aoi (Glaucidium palmatum) are perennials that grow to about 30 cm tall. They sprout with strong, fist-like buds and bloom into large, elegant flowers.
