The Towada Lake Festival, a beloved summer tradition in northern Tohoku, will celebrate its 60th edition this year.
It also happens to align with the 100th year since the passing of Keigetsu Ōmachi, a literary figure known for his deep appreciation of Lake Towada.
The festival will take place over two days—Saturday, June 14 and Sunday, June 15.
While the schedule is still being finalized, planned highlights include fireworks, balloon lanterns, and night cruises offering views from the lake.
Lake Towada will once again be filled with exciting events this summer! On this page, we introduce some of the top recommended highlights.
Write your wishes or draw your favorite designs on a lantern, then release it into the night sky over Lake Towada.
